William “Bill” Stuart, CPO
Inventor of the
ROTATION REALIGNMENT SYSTEM®
My name is Bill Stuart, CPO and I am the Poliorthotist. I am an ABC certified prosthetist orthotist and have been serving orthotic patients for over 40 years. I've worked at numerous O & P facilities across the nation, including more than 12 years at a major rehabilitation hospital in southern California, specializing in helping patients with stroke and post-polio syndrome.
I personally had a spinal cord injury when I was 19 years old. As a result of the injury, I became a partial paraplegic and I have been wearing braces for most of my life. Due to repetitive stresses placed on my knee, generated from the rotation of my foot and ankle, the back and outside of my knee developed a progression of pain and instability. I really understand what many of my patients are going through and pay particular attention to provide them with a custom designed orthosis that fits and functions as well for them as a brace I would make for myself. In fact, I am presently wearing bilateral KAFOs designed using the Rotation Realignment System®
I specialize in solving complex lower limb orthotic problems by providing custom orthotic services for adult and pediatric patients with the most complicated orthotic requirements including traumatic lower limb injuries, post polio (PPS), CMT, MS, CP, SCI, stroke, arthritis, brain injury as well as other neuromuscular pathologies. We offer a solution to lateral thrust gait as well as medial compartment arthritis of the knee, through a newly developed patented orthotic bracing technique called the Rotation Realignment System®. This unique system provides patients with a custom made knee, ankle, foot orthotic (KAFO) brace which is designed to improve the alignment of the knee, ankle and foot to reduce pain and realign muscles of the entire leg. It was created to control the knee by preventing it from moving away from the midline of the body, going backwards and controlling rotation and motion in all three planes.
